Imagine growing your own gourmet mushrooms!
We offer certified organic mushroom plugs for cultivation on logs. Once mushroom mycelium are established in your logs they will produce fresh organic mushrooms at your fingertips for years. Mushrooms are super nutritious and beneficial medicinally and are also a good source of riboflavin and niacin and contain no fat or cholesterol. Living in the Northwest we are blessed with mushrooms everywhere when the rains come in fall. Our native favorites here in Oregon are Chanterelles and Chicken of the Woods. Each order will include instructions for setup and cultivation of your mushroom plugs.
Once you have your plugs in the logs it is recommended to seal them with wax to prevent contamination, drying out and insects eating mushroom innoculant. It’s easy to do. We recommend 1/2 pound per 100 plugs.
Useful tip: It is important when choosing logs for your plugs to use freshly cut logs. Inoculate them within three weeks. If it is below freezing you can wait a little longer. The point is you don't want your logs to be infected by other fungi before yours take hold.
