Sunday, May 18th
10am. to 5pm.
Free Admission
The Thyme Garden is hosting our second annual Women's Festival focused on women with businesses as well as their creativity and well being. The Women's Festival was the brainchild of Katherine (Caite) Sagehorn, owner of More Than a Facial in Philomath, OR. Caite wanted to create a space for local businesswomen to showcase their products and services, as well as an event where we could all come together to learn, play and celebrate!
Our vision for the Women’s Festival is to provide a forum for women by women and those that love them: to inform and empower the women of our communities so they may embrace the talents and resources available to them.
FESTIVAL EVENTS
As many as 50 vendor booths will showcase products and services to enhance your health and well-being, adorn and pamper yourself , build your business , and learn about community services available to women ~ see their Vendor Directory for details! There will also be vendor demonstrations and informational talks throughout the day, as well as 4 motivational speakers. The festival will close with a dance movement celebration led by Nia facilitators. See their Event Schedule for details and check the great video of last year's event!

FALL SALMON CELEBRATION
Saturday Nov. 15th. Noon - 5pm.
Our fifth annual Fall Salmon Celebration is meant to celebrate the return of the Wild Salmon to our streams to spawn. And to establish an annual outing to check on how our new stream, created in 2003 for more spawning beds for the endangered Coho Salmon, has evolved on its course to maturity. To us the return of the salmon is a symbol of how beautiful and complex the fabic of life is on this planet. Showing us how important it is for us to do everything we can to protect all living things on this our Mother Earth. The day starts with appetizers at noon with speakers beginning at 12:45 followed by a guided walk along our stream to see how it has changed since last year and a hands on discussion of the biology of a salmon spawning stream. We will come back to salmon slowly baked outdoors around an alder fire and a Thanks Giving-like feast that would have made the Pilgram’s drool including all sorts of decadent desserts. Premiere wine from Tyee Wine Cellars will have wine to taste and purchase. There will be tents, our big cedar shelter, our indoor facilities, fires and heaters to stay dry and warm. This is an outdoor event though so dress warm and wear outdoor shoes. It also wouldn't hurt to bring an umbrella and protective clothing.

THE THYME GARDEN TOURS AND LUNCHEONS
WE
INVITE YOU TO JOIN US FOR A GROUP LUNCHEON AND TOUR
Our nursery and display gardens are tucked away in the mountains just a short
drive from Corvallis Oregon on Highway 34 to Waldport on the coast. The drive
alone is worth the trip, taking you past Mary’s Peak, the highest point
in the coast range mountains of Oregon.
We will start with a guided tour of our greenhouses, discussion on how we
propagate our plants, how our greenhouses work and the plants that are growing
in them. After having an aromatherapy experience in our little conservatory
where we have collected aromatic and fragrant plants we will stroll through
our display gardens and discuss the herbs we see as well as the ones you will
have the pleasure of experiencing with your herbal luncheon. The luncheon is
peaceful and relaxing as you dine outdoors under the fir trees and absorb all
the ambiance nature has to offer, always aware of the surrounding beautiful
coast range mountains and the hypnotizing sound of our year round stream that
borders this special place. Our nursery offering over 700 varieties of useful
plants will be open after finishing lunch for those who would like to take some
herbs home with them.
A typical luncheon will include:
A beautiful salad of mixed salad greens, topped with a tapestry
of
edible flowers and colorful herbs.
Herbal Teas
Homemade Herbal Bread
Herb Butters
A main dish such as our Fresh Salmon Baked in Papillote with a Dill and Caper
Sauce
Sauteed Fresh Green Beans with Basil and Pine Nuts and
Homemade Herbal Pasta
Finished off with a tasty dessert that has an herb or two in it as well!
(We use fresh wild caught salmon, not farm raised salmon that
has been artificially colored. We also use organically grown vegetables whenever
possible many of which we grow organically ourselves.)
The tour and lunchen normally lasts about 3 hours. The cost is $25.00 per person which includes gratuity.
and is not refundable. In order that we can give everyone plenty of attention
we have to restrict the size of the group to 24. We also require a minimum number
of twelve people. Interested individuals or small groups may combine with others
to meet the required minimum number. The event is held on Tues, Weds. and Thurs.
June, to mid-August. We have also added several evening dinner buffets.

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION!!!
Sunday, April 20th.
10am. to 5pm.
This will be our second year to celebrate Earth Day, and the 37th anniversary since the annual event began. Everyone knows by now that our planet is in dire need of our help from the threat of Global Warming or as some like to call it, Global Climate Change. If we don't act quickly it may even get down to our survival as a species. If anything it will at least affect how we enjoy our lives dramatically. Earth Day has taken on a new meaning in recent years. It can now be a forum to spread new ideas about ways to save energy and produce less carbon and become less dependent on the oil we need from foreign countries. It is still an important opportunity to take a few minutes to be thankful for what Mother Earth provides us and The Thyme Garden is the perfect place to do it.
We are inviting environmentally conscious people and businesses to come and share what they have to offer as to what we all can do to help change the world. There will be displays from more than 20 companies concerned with the environment, speakers, great music, great food and drink and great people. Come join us to celebrate this awesome planet we live on and share some of the things we can do to save it.

Listen to live music while learning ways to be more 'Earth Friendly' at the interesting displays and booths like Abundant Solar and Consumers Power.
|
There will be a guided walk along our stream and salmon recovery project starting at 11am. Our guide will identify our native herbs growing wild along the trail as well as talk about the stream we have created for salmon to spawn in.
The Gardens will fill with music starting around noon with Joan Long and her Music Makers and continue until things really get going when musicians jam and sing along with Pat Muller on mandolin and Marlene Dickey on guitar.
Planting trees help reduce the amount of carbon in the atmosphere. There will be free trees for the first 200 people that come to the celebration.
Some of the businesses that will be sharing their expertise are...
