St. John's Wort Seeds

(P/2-3')(FS) Z4-8 The Greeks named it hypericon meaning "above an icon" since it supposedly had magical properties. The smell was believed to be strong enough to drive away evil spirits and purify the air. It was known as 'the herb of St. John' since it is in full bloom on St. John's Day (June 24). When the yellow flowers are crushed they turn red, possibly relating to the blood at St. John's beheading. This herb does have real medicinal properties though, its calming properties used to treat bedwetting, insomnia and other nervous conditions. Aids healing of wounds and burns. The leaves where once used as a salad herb.  We also sell this as a dried bulk herb.
