Sorachi Ace Certified Organic Rooted Hops Rhizome

The rare Sorachi Ace hop is a combination of Brewer's Gold and Saaz hops developed for Sapporo Breweries in the 1970's. It was named after it's developers in the Sorachi Subprefecture in Japan. For years it was grown in Japan and China but didn't become commercially available in the US until 2006 after a US hop grower, Darren Gamache acquired starts from the USDA Hop Cultivars and began growing it on a large scale.
The high alpha in Sorachi Ace makes it a bittering hop, however it also has an intense lemon flavor with noticeable notes of dill, coriander and tea (even white flowers) making it useful as a flavoring hop as well. Perfect for IPA's, Wheats and Saisons. Add the extreme lemon flavor to any summer beer.

Alpha acid - 10-16%
Beta acid - 6-7%

About Rooted Rhizomes:

Certified Organic Rooted Rhizomes are two-year hop plants organically grown without the use of pesticides, fungicides or herbicides. They have produced crowns full of buds ready to produce healthy bines plus vigorous root systems. The standard rhizome cutting is the typical way to start a new hops plant but it doesn't have a crown and a root system, that is created the second year. These Organically Grown Rooted Rhizomes give you a great head start towards harvesting that crop of hop cones you'll be looking forward to.

Note: hops are shipped beginning in March after they are harvested. Order now for the best selection.
