Native to the Andes and Ecuador to Bolivia, it is also known as Aztec Tobacco. This variety of tobacco is cultivated in Europe and Asia for the insecticide nicotine and as a fumitory. This is the original tobacco cultivated in pre-Columbian times by Indians of Mexico and Eastern U.S and later by the colonists of Virginia. Wild tobacco was the first tobacco introduced to the Old World.
