(Yuan zhi) In Chinese medicine it calms the spirit and opens the flow of chi in the heart. Also known as Siberian milkwort, the roots have sedative and tranquilizing properties, useful for anxiety, insomnia and palpitations. Excellent for congestion due to asthma, bronchitis and colds.
